I’ve been daydreaming about what it would be like to have been married for 50 years, and what my 50th wedding anniversary speech for my husband would sound like. If you’re looking to compose your own, I hope this one will kickstart your imagination!
50th wedding anniversary speech for my husband
Peter,
How could I ever forget this date? June 10, 1969 : already then were our eager eyes wordlessly saying “I do”. The day our destinies crossed never to part again, the day our alliance symbolized our love… this date has become historical in my mind and magical in my heart.
50 years, can you realize how time flies? 50 years of both our hearts beating in harmony. Today, we’re a little bit older, with a few wrinkles on our faces but our hearts are still young as they bear witness to our life long relationship. We have a bit less crazy in us, but we’re still as in love as ever. Our hands never parted, we have been through storms, we have overcome tough challenges, life hasn’t always been pretty. No, we haven’t lived a fairy tale, nothing is ever smooth and perfect. But always, there was love, laughter, long conversations, quiet times of reading each in our armchair. We have built a wonderful family of which I couldn’t be more proud.
After 50 years of marriage, I look back and realize I wouldn’t change a single thing. I wouldn’t build a time machine for the world. Each difficulty proved to us that our united love as a family was stronger than anything else. We have learned from and built upon every fight. Even with its hard parts, life has been multicolor. You have made me happy every day, you have fulfilled me as a wife.
I remember all of our milestone anniversaries : 1 year, 10, 20, 30… And now 50, and I can’t wait for the next decade to arrive! A toast for my formidable husband, and to our many more long years of love together!
